Production Coordinator Central Inventory |
Job Responsibilities:
Provide assistance and support to Children's Paperback production team in all aspects of production and manufacturing. Assist department manager with all aspects of production and manufacturing for the division's list, including 1/C hardcover and paperback novels, as well as 4/C paperback picture books. Assumes responsibility (in conjunction with supervisor) for preliminary and final estimating of titles; prepares purchase orders including verification and coding of invoices and reconciliation of work-in-process ledgers. Assist in monitoring large volumes of titles in order to maintain scheduling timelines, cost and quality control. Color correct independently various proofing stages. Coordinate, effectively and efficiently, all phases of production and manufacturing between editorial, design and art departments, outside vendors, shipping agents and the Scranton warehouse. Interact with outside packagers and designers. Maintain production related information in the pipeline and other publishing systems.
Qualifications
At least 1 year relevant work experience. College level understanding and use of the English language, be detailed oriented, well-organized and able to set priorities under pressure. Knowledge of most MS Office based PC programs (Word, Excel, Power Point).

Qualifications
At least three years of relevant work experience. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, prioritization, and follow-through required. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and English language skills are required. To succeed in this role you must be efficient, reliable, self-motivated, detail oriented, flexible and able to excel in a fast paced/pressured environment. Must possess college degree or equivalent work experience.

Qualifications
3-5 years sales experience with the mass merchandise channel is highly preferred. Must be NYC-based in order to participate in regular strategy sessions for the mass merchandise channel, meeting with publishing and marketing on a regular basis to brainstorm new product and effective marketing plans. - Responsible for approximately 100 trade paperback and hard cover titles per year, including complicated color books.
- Evaluate the composition, printing, binding and cover requirements for each book including all items that may not be directly listed (e.g.., sub-rights, bound galleys, author required special editions, etc.).
- Prepare manufacturing cost estimates and purchase orders using the computerized cost estimating systems and or manual computation.
- Review bids from vendors for highest standards of cost efficiency and quality for the particular book. Submit purchase orders and verify invoices.
- Develop, review and monitor production schedules. Notify appropriate individuals of any problems, delays or crucial deadlines.
- Back up Associate Director when necessary.
Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent work experience required. Significant prior field and supervisory experience required (preferably in trade/coffee table).
- Excellent technical knowledge and understanding of book manufacturing (i.e., composition, cost estimates, paper, cover and jacket equipment, press knowledge of web and sheet fed printing-- domestically and internationally).
- Excellent prioritization, organization, mathematical and computer skills.
