Director of Intellectual Property Development Children's Books |
Job Responsibilities:
HarperCollins Children’s Books seeks a creative, energetic, seasoned editor/writer/creator of children’s books and/or digital entertainment properties to become its director of intellectual property development. You will be responsible for creating, commissioning, and editing original narrative fiction properties for book, online, and mobile app development, with an emphasis on teen and tween commercial series fiction to be published in close partnership with editors in publishing groups of the Harper imprint. You will use your strong relationships in the community of agents and writers to partner on these projects with the highest caliber writers and developers. You’ll stay abreast of emerging technologies and interact with Harper editors in the print and digital divisions to work on the leading edge of new publishing formats. You’ll also advise other Harper imprint editorial staff on the development of their own IP. You’ll receive support from and share supervision of an assistant editor.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years children's books experience.
- Proven track record developing and publishing original commercial fiction properties as writer, commissioning editor, or book packager; superlative writing and presentation skills.
- Digital editorial development experience a strong plus.
- College degree or equivalent work experience
