In the mid-1950s, then Senator John F. Kennedy sends two chapters of Profiles in Courage to his editor at Harper, unsure whether the work would make a better magazine article. Harper convinces him to develop the book. JFK wins the 1957 Pulitzer Prize. The book is a timeless success.

"I am a part of all that I have met."

Every year there are many opportunities to volunteer in some way. We work to refurbish public schools; provide city teens with internships; clean up public parks; run clothing, food, and blood drives; participate in holiday giving efforts; race for many vital causes, and more. Together with organizations like New York Cares, 100 Black Men and Revlon, host of the Run/Walk for Women, we have the chance to make valuable contributions, in even more ways than publishing books.

Courtesy of New York Cares and HarperCollins employees who toiled on their knees for hours (but had a lot of fun), an artistic masterpiece (and chewing gum holder) for the very smiley kids of a NYC Public School.

"I was happy to share my knowledge and hopefully impart some wisdom on a bright young person. It was an absolute delight. Thanks for the opportunity. The experience was very rewarding."
